Casa Grande
Casa Grande, located on a north facing property overlooking an expansive bay along the Florida panhandle, is intended for an active family of 6. The design is driven by the benefits of living at water’s edge, but also considers the risks involved with inevitable flooding and a wetland marsh running along the eastern edge. The solution is to minimize the ground floor and lift the program one level up, including the pool deck and outdoor dining area.

The resulting cantilever drives the expression of the project —a box of light and glass elevated by a concrete base. The south facing street facade reads as series of panels that provides privacy and protection from a harsh summer sun, via a transom and full-height vertical glazing on the level above. The wood panels give way to glass corners and leads to expansive glass facades facing the pool deck and waterfront to the north.
